The fastest way to feel crazy as a small business owner is to do “everything right” and still watch people walk by with empty hands. We just got back from the Eastern Maine Sportsman Show at the University of Maine in Orono, and we’re giving you the unfiltered recap: booth cost, hotel, fuel, meals, the sales goal we set, and why landing at about half of what we hoped for still didn’t make the weekend a total loss.

We dig into the real-time signals we’re seeing at vendor events, fairs, festivals, and sportsman shows, especially the bag-to-person ratio. When you stop seeing bags in a crowd, you feel it at the register. We also talk about another trend that hits hard for traveling vendors: more people putting purchases on credit instead of paying cash. Pair that with rising costs and shrinking breathing room, and it explains why so many entrepreneurs are carrying the same two feelings right now, uncertainty and nervousness.

From there, we connect the dots with what we’re hearing from other small business owners across totally different industries, and we deliver a needed shot of hopium. I share my forecast for where things are headed, why I believe we’re going to see relief, and how to keep your head straight while you weather the storm. We close with gratitude, a big shout out, and a story about getting surprised with WWE Monday Night Raw tickets that reminded me why joy and community matter just as much as the grind.

If you’re building a brand, selling made in the USA apparel, or simply trying to make the next right move with your money, hit play. Subscribe, share this with a fellow business owner, and leave a review so more people can find the show.

00:00:00.719 --> 00:00:09.759
This week on Share the Truggle Podcast, we recap our most recent event, the Eastern Maine Sportsman Show at the University of Maine in Orno.

00:00:10.240 --> 00:00:18.320
And after several conversations with small business owners, two common things exist: uncertainty and nervousness.

00:00:18.800 --> 00:00:29.280
So today, I deliver the shot of hopium that we need, as we make a summertime prediction that makes everything oh so right.

00:00:29.519 --> 00:00:34.000
And I end the show with a much needed thank you and shout out.

00:00:34.560 --> 00:00:35.840
Let me tell you something.

00:00:36.000 --> 00:00:37.280
Everybody's struggled.

00:00:37.679 --> 00:00:42.880
The difference is some people choose to go through it and some choose to grow through it.

00:00:43.200 --> 00:00:45.359
The choice is completely yours.

00:00:45.600 --> 00:00:51.759
Which one you choose will have a very profound effect on the way you live your life.

00:00:52.560 --> 00:00:58.719
If you find a strength in the struggle, then it's obviously for you.

00:01:43.359 --> 00:01:44.000
What it do?

00:01:44.079 --> 00:01:44.719
What it do?

00:01:44.879 --> 00:01:47.760
What it hide did it do?

00:01:47.920 --> 00:01:48.719
Good low.

00:01:48.959 --> 00:01:51.519
Almighty, am I so excited to be back with you?

00:01:51.599 --> 00:01:52.959
Oh, it is true.

00:01:53.280 --> 00:01:54.959
It is damn true.

00:01:55.120 --> 00:01:55.519
Why?

00:01:55.760 --> 00:01:57.840
Because I love you, Boo.

00:01:58.239 --> 00:02:00.000
You already know that to be true.

00:02:00.239 --> 00:02:25.039
Episode 298, and I hope all of us are feeling great because we are gathered here together, again as friends, looking to do what we always do, to spread the good gospel, the positive vibe that builds the positive tribe, because we know that when we get together and we are bold enough, courageous enough to share our stories, the struggles that we go through together, we grow through.

00:02:25.199 --> 00:02:29.360
There is a rhyme and reason to what the is that we do.

00:02:29.520 --> 00:02:33.680
There is a truth to the matter that success leaves clues.

00:02:34.159 --> 00:02:36.560
We are going to succeed together.

00:02:36.800 --> 00:02:38.960
We're going to find the silver lining together.

00:02:39.039 --> 00:02:45.759
And today, we might start off a little somber, but together we're going to find that silver lining and we're going to end.

00:02:45.919 --> 00:02:47.280
Oh, so positive.

00:02:47.439 --> 00:02:48.719
Episode 298.

00:02:49.039 --> 00:02:52.639
Man, the pressure is on to do something extra great.

00:02:52.879 --> 00:02:57.599
As episode 300 quietly awaits.

00:02:59.039 --> 00:03:04.319

Okay?

00:03:23.039 --> 00:03:25.919
I don't know what's taking you so long.

00:03:26.240 --> 00:03:29.840
Actually, get over there and get that done.

00:03:30.080 --> 00:03:35.360
I started the show today letting you know we were going to recap our most recent event.

00:03:35.520 --> 00:03:42.080
We're going to dig into the road trip to the University of Maine in Orno, the Eastern Maine Sportsman Show.

00:03:42.240 --> 00:03:47.599
If you've been listening in, then you already know the Loud Proud American is trying new things this year.

00:03:47.680 --> 00:03:49.520
We're going to new places this year.

00:03:49.680 --> 00:03:52.719
We're applying and trying a lot of new things this year.

00:03:52.960 --> 00:04:01.199
And part of this whole mission that we're on this year is to try to broaden who we um like kind of appeal to, right?

00:04:01.360 --> 00:04:09.840
And maybe lean into some of the things that we already believe in that we haven't really put on the shelf as far as designs go.

00:04:09.919 --> 00:04:17.279
And part of that is leaning into a lot of our Second Amendment beliefs, a lot of pro-gun uh type of merchandise.

00:04:17.600 --> 00:04:33.519
So our dabble into the the Eastern Main Sportsman show, we thought was a great fit to kind of start to see how this feels as we really try to explore some different uh gun shows and and larger events, maybe sponsored by the NRA and stuff like that.

00:04:33.680 --> 00:04:37.279
I actually just missed out on this coming weekend.

00:04:37.360 --> 00:04:46.959
There's a big sportsman show in Augusta that I wish I was being a part of, but I have a different plan for uh next weekend that we'll talk about next week.

00:04:47.120 --> 00:04:51.199
But um yeah, so this was a whole different different crowd for us, right?

00:04:51.279 --> 00:04:54.079
We're different location for us, new location.

00:04:54.240 --> 00:05:04.000
Uh we obviously have our uh our genuine, uh tried and true, fantastic, loyal customer base that'll come and find us whenever we're in their area.

00:05:04.079 --> 00:05:17.279
And some of our best customers, hands down since day one, is the Tracy family, and they showed up and showed out when we were in Bangor over the weekend and uh actually made a massive difference in the success of this event for us.

00:05:17.519 --> 00:05:20.959
So, other than them, it was really a whole new audience for us.

00:05:21.040 --> 00:05:22.399
So we were excited about it.

00:05:22.560 --> 00:05:29.040
I went in this event with much higher hopes than what we achieved.

00:05:29.199 --> 00:05:37.360
If I let that spoiler alert out early, the event wasn't a wash, but it wasn't the success that we had hoped for.

00:05:37.680 --> 00:05:42.079
And we were extremely encouraged by the possibility and the opportunity.

00:05:42.319 --> 00:05:52.800
Now, part of this is you start to factor a lot of things into the evaluation of uh of your week and the success and if it was worth it, and and you start to analyze all those things.

00:05:52.879 --> 00:05:55.199
The first thing to do when it comes to dollars and cents, right?

00:05:55.279 --> 00:05:57.680
If you want to make a sense, it's dollars and cents.

00:05:57.920 --> 00:06:03.360
And this is kind of an expensive rental for the weekend for what you're given.

00:06:03.680 --> 00:06:13.279
We had a um 20-foot wide, 10-foot deep display, and that display cost us$800 for a Friday, Saturday, Sunday show.

00:06:13.439 --> 00:06:15.360
That's actually a pretty steep price.

00:06:15.519 --> 00:06:20.879
I know fairs that I can get into for less than that that give you more days than that.

00:06:21.120 --> 00:06:31.360
But I figured this is such a like a niche crowd that's perfect for what we do, that I justified that cost in being sufficient.

00:06:31.680 --> 00:06:45.279
So do you have the eight hundred dollars in that, do you have the three hundred dollars in the hotel, you have the hundred and fifty dollars in fuel, and then you factor in, you know, three meals a day on the road, and you start to weigh all of those things out.

00:06:45.680 --> 00:06:52.800
And the number that we attained at the end of the weekend was half of what I expected.

00:06:52.959 --> 00:06:58.480
If you guys have been listening through the years, then you know that I set these goals every time I attend an event.

00:06:58.639 --> 00:07:05.439
You have to forecast and try to gain a feeling for like, hey, what's the potential of this event?

00:07:05.600 --> 00:07:08.639
What's the realistic number for me to attain?

00:07:08.959 --> 00:07:23.199
Because when you start doing the simple bus math like we just did, if you do that ahead of a show and those things, you know, those negatives, those those entry costs and expenses, they you feel like they outweigh the potential that you're gonna gain at that event.

00:07:23.279 --> 00:07:27.920
Then you have to ask yourself, well, is it just worth the exposure or is just a bad decision?

00:07:28.079 --> 00:07:32.560
But I thought that we were gonna turn in a number that was twice of what we actually did.

00:07:32.879 --> 00:07:41.199
We had a really good Saturday, uh, but we had kind of some some real duds on Friday and Saturday.

00:07:41.360 --> 00:07:43.199
We started off Friday great.

00:07:43.360 --> 00:07:50.560
As I said, the Tracy family showed up, and Tracy was there and made our biggest sale of the entire weekend as soon as the doors open.

00:07:50.879 --> 00:07:54.000
So we thought we were gonna be off and running, but it just really fizzled out.

00:07:54.079 --> 00:08:07.600
There wasn't a lot to bring um people in, and I think there was a good amount of people, but there's an observation that I made at this show that I've been making at all of the shows, and that's a bag-to-person ratio.

00:08:08.079 --> 00:08:15.680
You look at the people that are there, you look at how many people go by your booth, and then you, you know, just kind of take a little bit of time.

00:08:15.759 --> 00:08:30.959
If it's a few minutes, and you just watch all the people that are coming by and pay attention to their hands and what they're carrying, and you try to get a little ratio of how many people that are coming by empty-handed, how many people are coming by with bags in their hands like they're buying something.

00:08:31.199 --> 00:08:37.200
When I started this little journey that I'm on here, I got accustomed to seeing most people carrying bags.

00:08:37.360 --> 00:08:39.039
That's not the case anymore.

00:08:39.279 --> 00:08:46.639
And it seems to be a trend where for every 20 people there's one person carrying a bag.

00:08:46.879 --> 00:08:50.000
And uh, those aren't good odds for for folks like myself.

00:08:50.240 --> 00:09:12.000
And as I'm giving you guys a little play-by-play as to what happened this week, I can connect the dots to what happened a few weeks ago, and we can take northern Maine and we can take Florida, and we can think about the mass difference between the two, and I can find some common trends that still ring true.

00:09:12.080 --> 00:09:15.600
And that bag to person ratio was the same there.

00:09:15.759 --> 00:09:17.279
People are just sitting on money.

00:09:17.360 --> 00:09:24.399
Uh people are are nervous to spend their money, and that's kind of uh that's kind of a scary time.

00:09:24.720 --> 00:09:33.519
So as I'm discussing and laying out the success of this weekend, when we start off with the dollars and cents, I was pretty disappointed with where we ended up.

00:09:33.679 --> 00:09:36.000
I was encouraged that we didn't lose money.

00:09:36.320 --> 00:09:40.240
We we made a few bucks and you come home and you move some things around.

00:09:40.399 --> 00:09:51.840
The difference is when you're making money off of gross sales, but you know the truth is off of profit, you're not really making the money that you should.

00:09:52.000 --> 00:09:59.679
So there becomes a real question as to did the profit actually pay the expenses, or did you kind of go on the hole here?

00:09:59.840 --> 00:10:00.480
You know what I mean?

00:10:00.559 --> 00:10:09.200
Like your gross dollars, they're above and beyond what your cost is, but when you start breaking down cost and profit, does it still outweigh what the cost truly was?

00:10:09.679 --> 00:10:22.159
And when you get to an event that's that close, when those numbers are that close, then you gotta peel back the onion a little bit and you gotta start thinking on a little grander scale and asking yourself, how valuable was the exposure?

00:10:22.320 --> 00:10:23.679
Did you get a new crowd?

00:10:23.840 --> 00:10:25.440
Do you build a new fan base?

00:10:25.840 --> 00:10:32.559
Are you growing that that tribe that you're trying to develop, that positive tribe that's out there beating the drum for your brand?

00:10:32.720 --> 00:10:35.360
Are you welcoming new people to your circle?

00:10:35.679 --> 00:10:37.120
And there's that part of it.

00:10:37.200 --> 00:10:38.960
And then is there potential to go back?

00:10:39.120 --> 00:10:46.879
Is there potential to go back and have a bigger crowd, a bigger um opportunity, a better year with a little bit more money and people looking to spend?

00:10:47.200 --> 00:10:49.519
Will you double that number that you expected?

00:10:49.600 --> 00:10:52.320
You know, when you get to those things, well, those things all work out.

00:10:52.559 --> 00:10:57.039
Unfortunately for us, we heard that they're gonna move locations, which I'm happy about the location.

00:10:57.120 --> 00:11:03.360
They're gonna move to a bigger, um, more uh attractive location, but they're gonna move the date.

00:11:03.440 --> 00:11:08.879
And when they move the date, it's now going to conflict with another event we do, and that event being bike week.

00:11:09.039 --> 00:11:13.759
So we're gonna have a couple of events to really decide, you know, what's the right direction to go here.

00:11:14.240 --> 00:11:24.480
So it's frustrating for me because I'm trying to fill an event calendar in Maine in January, February, March when there's nothing happening.

00:11:24.639 --> 00:11:26.639
That's the reason why I drive south, right?

00:11:26.799 --> 00:11:28.879
There's nothing really happening in my state.

00:11:29.120 --> 00:11:34.480
So when there are things happening where they conflict with the things that are already on my schedule, it's so frustrating.

00:11:34.720 --> 00:11:36.159
It's just so frustrating.

00:11:36.320 --> 00:11:44.480
I I wish that I could get two or three events throughout the wintertime to put money in my pocket and keep this business rolling, and I just can't find them.

00:11:44.639 --> 00:11:49.919
I'm at a and I'm also at a point right now where for the month of April, my plan was to go back down south.

00:11:50.000 --> 00:11:56.240
I was planning on going to Georgia, but as I sit back and look at it and analyze it, number one, I ask myself, can I afford it?

00:11:56.399 --> 00:11:58.000
Do I have the money for the entry fees?

00:11:58.080 --> 00:11:59.279
Do I have the money for the road?

00:11:59.440 --> 00:12:00.799
Do I have the money for the product?

00:12:00.960 --> 00:12:07.120
And number two, when I get out there, am I gonna get the same damn result that I've gotten at the first two events?

00:12:07.360 --> 00:12:28.320
And if I'm gonna take and risk my my financial uh comforts and I'm gonna risk time and sacrifice time with my family on this opportunity, and then go out there and just break even, or maybe not break even, all for the scratch ticket opportunity to actually turn some profit, it's pretty scary.

00:12:28.559 --> 00:12:43.759
And I can say, as April's about a week away, I still don't really know what I'm doing next month because I haven't gotten answers on anything local, and the big ticket opportunities to head south to try something new, I don't know if it's gonna be worth it.

00:12:44.080 --> 00:12:52.639
Because my experience in Florida and my experience in Maine are giving me the same results, and those results are making me nervous.

00:12:53.120 --> 00:13:04.080
As I finish the recap on this event before I get into the discussion that I've been having with multiple business owners over the past few weeks, the other layer of the onion that you ask yourself if it's worth it.

00:13:04.240 --> 00:13:14.559
You think about the dollars and the cents, then you think about the exposure and and the new customer base that you're that you're creating, the new opportunities.

00:13:14.799 --> 00:13:20.639
The next part of that onion is if that what does that event provide you?

00:13:20.799 --> 00:13:22.080
What does it give to you?

00:13:22.240 --> 00:13:29.039
Like when I go to Florida, it gives me the opportunity to spend time with some people that I don't get to spend time with, right?

00:13:29.200 --> 00:13:41.200
I hit the rope with Brian and Zach, we have a great time, and we've started to build an extended family in the South, and it's great to see them and connect to build those relationships to form connections.

00:13:41.360 --> 00:13:47.279
There's some major announcements coming from those relationships and connections that I'm so excited about.

00:13:47.440 --> 00:13:50.159
Those conversations moved even more forward today.

00:13:50.240 --> 00:13:52.879
I look forward to sharing those things with you in the future.

00:13:53.039 --> 00:13:58.159
So those are things that you think about when you start to analyze the event and if it truly makes sense.

00:13:58.399 --> 00:14:22.879
This weekend, one layer of the onion that really makes sense is it's an event that slows you down and provides you the opportunity to spend time with your wife and your daughter, and to get away from your normal routine and to do something different and to enjoy yourselves and to surround yourself with new people and new opportunities and new experiences.

00:14:23.679 --> 00:14:26.000
This event was truly great for that.

00:14:26.240 --> 00:14:30.879
It was busy enough to make a few bucks, slow enough to enjoy time with your family.

00:14:31.039 --> 00:14:35.279
Too slow at times, where you're like, you know what, we could be doing something totally different here.

00:14:35.519 --> 00:14:39.039
But this event provided some cool things for the family.

00:14:39.200 --> 00:14:40.960
There was things to entertain Paisley.

00:14:41.360 --> 00:14:46.639
We were basically set up inside the track and field center for the University of Maine.

00:14:46.720 --> 00:14:55.200
So there was a like a banked angled freaking runner's track all the way around the outside of um like uh where all the vendors are.

00:14:55.360 --> 00:14:58.399
The baby was cranking laps on that thing, running around.

00:14:58.559 --> 00:15:01.440
Everybody was so welcoming and so friendly to her.

00:15:01.679 --> 00:15:04.320
There was different cool things for her the whole time.

00:15:04.480 --> 00:15:08.720
Like they, you know, we're doing a lot of kids' events, making balloon animals.

00:15:08.879 --> 00:15:11.360
There's different dog training events in there.

00:15:11.440 --> 00:15:15.600
So there's dogs everywhere, and my little one is mesmerized by dogs right now.

00:15:15.759 --> 00:15:20.559
There's dog events where they're jumping into pools and doing all kinds of stuff, aquatic stuff.

00:15:20.720 --> 00:15:31.679
There's things to keep her busy and to entertain her little brain, and we set our um display up in a way where she was kind of corralled off, had the opportunity to play and do her thing.

00:15:32.000 --> 00:15:36.879
Man, on Saturday, you want to talk about a day for a little girl.

00:15:37.039 --> 00:15:39.440
She got there at 9 a.m.

00:15:39.759 --> 00:15:43.519
and we don't close until 8 p.m.

00:15:44.000 --> 00:15:45.600
That's a long ass day.

00:15:45.840 --> 00:15:52.960
And she only took like a 30 or 45 minute nap during the middle of the day, and she just absolutely loved it.

00:15:53.120 --> 00:16:03.039
If you guys have been listening this past year on the road, then you know when I went to the Scowhegan Fair, I met a young man there that has become part of our family, Isaiah.

00:16:03.200 --> 00:16:05.200
He's a great dude, he's a great young fellow.

00:16:05.279 --> 00:16:17.600
He gives you hope for the next generation, he gives you optimism for what's to come, that there are still hard-working young men and women being raised right in this country.

00:16:17.840 --> 00:16:25.200
He's just a um just a true, genuine, salt of the earth, hardworking young fellow with hopes and dreams.

00:16:25.360 --> 00:16:27.600
And um, we've formed a connection and a bond.

00:16:27.679 --> 00:16:29.039
He's become part of the family.

00:16:29.279 --> 00:16:34.799
Anytime we're within an hour to two hour radius of his house, we shoot him a message.

00:16:34.960 --> 00:16:41.360
And uh just like the last time we're in Bangor, Isaiah rolled up and he spent basically all Saturday with us.

00:16:41.519 --> 00:16:45.759
And it is amazing to me how little Paisley has just taken to him.

00:16:45.919 --> 00:16:50.879
She hasn't seen him since um before Christmas time when we were in Bangor.

00:16:51.440 --> 00:17:04.640
And um, she sees him, gives him his vendor pass, and the next thing I know, they're coming in uh the the venue, and he's holding her, and she's having a great time, and they just spend the rest of the day basically inseparable, just having a grand old time.

00:17:04.880 --> 00:17:07.119
So that little girl had the best of time.

00:17:07.440 --> 00:17:13.200
And every night, you know, you're you're eating out, you're on the road, you're you're staying in a hotel room.

00:17:13.359 --> 00:17:15.119
It was a crazy little time for her.

00:17:15.279 --> 00:17:17.839
Everything was different for her, but she did tremendous.

00:17:18.000 --> 00:17:29.519
Other than thinking we were probably gonna get kicked out of the hotel on night one because she was a little hepped up and and uh and yelling and screaming at us, not because she was mad about it, anything, but she was just so freaking excited about it.

00:17:29.680 --> 00:17:35.119
But it was a great change of um of everything, a change of pace for everyone.

00:17:35.359 --> 00:17:38.079
I've been gone on the road for a couple of weeks from Florida.

00:17:38.240 --> 00:17:42.240
I'm getting back into a routine, I'm getting ready to leave home yet again.

00:17:42.559 --> 00:17:59.039
So to have that little time with my little family, just just the three of us doing what we we had to do and getting the opportunity to spend every ounce of of every minute of every hour of every day of the weekend together, it was tremendous.

00:17:59.200 --> 00:18:10.640
You know, between the the two and a half hour ride north, her sleeping and and doing great with that, the the hotel, the setup, the check-in, like we're building our entire display.

00:18:10.799 --> 00:18:13.119
She's doing great, all of these things, man.

00:18:13.279 --> 00:18:14.720
Uh, it was it was incredible.

00:18:14.880 --> 00:18:16.640
We're truly blessed, we're truly fortunate.

00:18:16.720 --> 00:18:24.960
I don't know how long I'm gonna be this fortunate when it comes to her at these events, but this was tremendous, and it was so good to see her have a good time.

00:18:25.200 --> 00:18:31.599
Um coming home on Sunday, it was snowing like uh like a I don't even I don't even know.

00:18:31.680 --> 00:18:32.799
It was snowing, okay?

00:18:32.960 --> 00:18:38.319
I'm too tired for a good analogy here, but it was uh it was jumping the white stuff, okay?

00:18:38.559 --> 00:18:39.440
That didn't sound good.

00:18:39.680 --> 00:18:40.720
Lord, I apologize.

00:18:40.799 --> 00:18:41.759
It didn't sound good.

00:18:42.000 --> 00:18:43.519
The old white gold.

00:18:44.000 --> 00:18:46.559
The uh shouldn't have gone there either.

00:18:46.640 --> 00:18:52.319
It was snowing at a pretty good rate in the north, so much so that it was 45 miles an hour on the way home.

00:18:52.400 --> 00:18:56.319
I'm still new to hauling a trailer, so you gotta love that, okay?

00:18:56.640 --> 00:19:06.880
I went from never hauling a trailer to in the past month, I've probably got I don't know, three, four thousand miles of trailer experience, including snowstorms.

00:19:07.119 --> 00:19:09.759
So good times, good times, fun had by all.

00:19:09.920 --> 00:19:14.480
We made it home safe and sound with one detour, mind you, one detour on the trip.

00:19:14.640 --> 00:19:20.480
Because when we were at the venue, you know, for the last day, Allie had already checked out of the hotel, everything was good.

00:19:20.559 --> 00:19:26.960
She says, Well, we're gonna have to make another trip to the hotel because your daughter stole the remote.

00:19:27.200 --> 00:19:27.839
Yeah.

00:19:28.160 --> 00:19:30.720
Paisley has a thing for remote controls.

00:19:30.880 --> 00:19:34.799
She decided she should take the remote control from the hotel room with her.

00:19:34.960 --> 00:19:38.480
So we found that in her little toy supply wagon.

00:19:38.720 --> 00:19:43.440
So on our way home, we had to circle back to the hotel room and drop off the remote.

00:19:43.599 --> 00:19:47.119
Return the stolen remote of our daughter.

00:19:47.359 --> 00:19:53.119
I assumed at some point in time there would be a situation where my daughter stole something via accident.

00:19:53.279 --> 00:19:55.440
I didn't think it would happen before the age of two.

00:19:55.599 --> 00:19:59.599
I didn't suspect it to be a remote from the hotel room.

00:19:59.680 --> 00:20:00.799
How do you do?

00:20:02.559 --> 00:20:11.920
When we peel back all those layers of the onion, all things considered, then I think that event was worth it.

00:20:12.400 --> 00:20:18.079
And if it lined up correctly on my schedule again, I would take another shot at that event again.

00:20:18.319 --> 00:20:23.279
I'm thankful and grateful for the opportunity that I had and the memories that were made.

00:20:23.519 --> 00:20:27.200
I would have loved a little bit more money, but wouldn't we all?

00:20:27.519 --> 00:20:38.079
As I connect the dots between the past few weeks, the last two events that I've had, and as I made reference to the snow storm home, that's a common trend.

00:20:38.319 --> 00:20:42.079
Because I think we're gonna have to weather a few more storms, my friends.

00:20:42.400 --> 00:20:49.359
I'm sorry to say this, but I do think that we must weather a few more storms.

00:20:50.240 --> 00:20:59.599
With my observations being on the road, my old bag to person ratio example, my observations of people just not spending money.

00:20:59.839 --> 00:21:07.839
Over this weekend, when I looked at my final sales totals, I also noticed that nearly 80% of all my sales went on credit.

00:21:08.319 --> 00:21:18.720
Now, for what I do, some people might say, hey, that seems pretty common, it is what it is, but for what I do, I'm often more like a 50-50 split, sometimes 60-40.

00:21:18.880 --> 00:21:24.000
I end up dealing with a lot of cash when I'm at just the type of events that I'm at, right?

00:21:24.240 --> 00:21:27.200
Like uh bike rallies, fairs, festivals, those type of things.

00:21:27.359 --> 00:21:30.000
People come with a um like a budget.

00:21:30.160 --> 00:21:35.599
A lot of people come with like this is what I'm looking to spend, and I'm gonna hold that in cash, and when it's gone, it's gone.

00:21:35.839 --> 00:21:41.599
But I've been noticing that this year people are putting things on credit and they're hoping to pay for them later.

00:21:41.839 --> 00:21:44.640
So that's another trend that I'm seeing.

00:21:45.519 --> 00:21:49.359
If you remember a few weeks ago, I mentioned when we went to Florida on the way there.

00:21:49.440 --> 00:21:53.200
I think we were probably averaging about two dollars and fifty cents a gallon for fuel.

00:21:53.279 --> 00:21:57.359
By the time we were coming home, we were damn near four dollars a gallon.

00:21:58.079 --> 00:22:07.680
Over these past few of events over the past let's say months time I've had a lot of conversations with fellow business owners.

00:22:08.079 --> 00:22:12.960
I found myself comparing my experiences to others.

00:22:13.519 --> 00:22:29.440
The great thing about this message is that my group of friends, the circle of friends that I have, and then the people that I've met on the road, it is a vast, wide-ranging, eclectic group of business owners.

00:22:29.680 --> 00:22:30.000
Okay?

00:22:30.319 --> 00:22:36.160
I don't want to spell out what all their businesses are because I don't want to give any information about their business.

00:22:36.880 --> 00:22:47.440
But these are businesses that you wouldn't think correlate to each other in any way, shape, or form, but we're all feeling and experiencing the same things.

00:22:47.759 --> 00:22:55.759
So when I say prepare to weather the storm, my friends, I do feel like we are stole in the midst of some uncertainty.

00:22:56.000 --> 00:23:07.839
When I talk to all my fellow business owners, and I'm telling you, this has been eye-opening to me because of the vast differences in businesses but are similar experiences.

00:23:08.160 --> 00:23:12.960
As I said to open the show, there's a couple of things that that ring true.

00:23:13.039 --> 00:23:23.759
There's a couple of things that are common things that exist no matter what the business is, and it's uncertainty and nervousness.

00:23:24.000 --> 00:23:26.480
We are all nervous about what's going on.

00:23:26.559 --> 00:23:29.759
We all certainly feel rather uncertain about what's going on.

00:23:30.000 --> 00:23:33.680
We are all experiencing the fact that people are sitting on money.

00:23:33.920 --> 00:23:35.759
Folks don't have enough money.

00:23:36.079 --> 00:23:44.160
I can say it loud and not so proud that I've never been so financially um unsecure.

00:23:44.319 --> 00:23:47.119
I've never been so financially unstable.

00:23:47.359 --> 00:23:56.640
I've never had to kick the can on so many things to float so many things to come too damn near close to not paying all of my things.

00:23:56.960 --> 00:23:59.680
But it's part of the storm that needs to be weathered.

00:24:00.160 --> 00:24:04.319
And I've talked to so many businesses that are dealing with the same things.

00:24:04.559 --> 00:24:18.480
Where and I can't really spell all this out because I don't want to people to discover who some of the businesses are but trust when I tell you that we're all in this together and we're all experiencing the same things.

00:24:19.279 --> 00:24:29.039
Now I know some of you have been listening to me since day one and they're saying to themselves right now and they might even be saying out loud in the car, well this was quick bud where did this come from?

00:24:29.200 --> 00:24:47.440
Because a few weeks ago you were a high and mighty beating your mighty Joe chest about how great this year was going to be America 250 the economy's coming back the golden age of America it's all coming and here you are now saying we're going to weather this storm you were saying everybody was going to spend money and now you're telling me nobody has the money to spend.

00:24:47.599 --> 00:24:52.079
This is going to be the greatest year you've ever been in business but now you don't even know how to pay your own mortgage.

00:24:52.319 --> 00:24:59.359
You're all listening and you're doubting and you're shouting and I get that and all this can still be true.

00:24:59.599 --> 00:25:02.559
It can all still be true at the same damn time.

00:25:03.200 --> 00:25:26.799
I've spent a lot of time thinking about this and I've come to you prepared to make my proclamation I've come to you prepared to to give you my forecast to give you my prediction to release to you my spoiler this year is going to be tremendous we just need to get through the darkness that exists right now.

00:25:27.200 --> 00:25:33.279
I truly feel the uncertainty in Iran is going to be resolved sooner than later.

00:25:33.519 --> 00:25:51.680
It is going to come to an end I want to put into perspective a couple things for each and every one of you that are listening that I can hopefully give you that shot of hopium that I can hopefully just build you up I can I can maybe lessen the nervousness we can peel away some of the uncertainty.

00:25:51.920 --> 00:26:31.920
I hope that each and every one of you hear what I'm about to say and it makes sense to you the way that I feel about our president and the way I feel about how he operates and gets things done the way in which he wants to get things done I'm going to say something to you that I think is going to make sense to everyone that's going to give you a little bit more of a better feeling no matter who you voted for, no matter what side you stand for just understanding the perspective and the train of thought I think is going to help you feel just a little bit better.

00:26:32.319 --> 00:27:32.559
This year is America two fifty Trump has been touting the success of America the economy the resurgence in this country the golden age of America and if you think for one minute that come July 4th 2026 he's going to be standing on some podium giving a speech talking about how we can't afford anything and the highest gas prices that you've seen in a long time if you think he's going to give a misery statement on America's birthday then you don't know the man that runs this country I guarantee to you that by the time we get to July 4th 2026 y'all we will be paying some of the lowest gas prices we have paid in years maybe in even over a decade we are headed to good times I was nervous at the beginning of this year and I keep saying to myself I think this year is going to be a good year.

00:27:32.799 --> 00:27:37.519
I think this year the economy comes back I think this year it all starts to work out.

00:27:37.759 --> 00:27:42.319
I just don't know what time of the year that is is it going to be January February?

00:27:42.559 --> 00:27:44.559
Is it going to be June or July?

00:27:44.720 --> 00:27:46.960
Is it going to be October November?

00:27:47.279 --> 00:28:16.000
But the more I think about this the more time I spend just agonizing over my own situations over the the world that we live in in our outside uncontrollable circumstances the more I realize July 4th the birthday of America this country will be humming before July 4th because the speech on the 4th needs to be tremendous Do you understand what I'm saying?

00:28:16.319 --> 00:28:21.519
There's a couple more things that are going to play into this this is a midterm election year.

00:28:22.240 --> 00:28:37.519
Do you think for a minute President Trump is going to let us suffer for an entire year roll into the midterm elections with high ass guy price gas prices inflation and and and suffering from a great case of lack of funza?

00:28:37.839 --> 00:28:46.880
Oh no no because he can't afford to lose it with the midterm elections if he wants to accomplish all he wants to accomplish in the next two years.

00:28:47.119 --> 00:28:54.559
I hope what I'm saying to you resonates with you no matter who and how you feel about President Trump.

00:28:54.720 --> 00:29:04.640
Because you should be able to understand this is truly the way he thinks so I'm going to make a few guarantees a few spoilers for me number one prepare for some cheap ass gas.

00:29:04.720 --> 00:29:08.240
Number two prepare for some falling prices it's going to happen.

00:29:08.480 --> 00:29:14.799
Prepare yourself for the greatest 4th of July speech and birthday freaking announcements you've ever freaking heard.

00:29:14.880 --> 00:29:15.759
That's coming to you.

00:29:15.920 --> 00:29:39.519
And I'm going to tell you right now before you roll your happy little ass to the polls in November you can prepare to get yourself a dough stimulus check in your damn accounts as well because the Democrats got good at sending friggin' stimulus checks right before the polls open you can guarantee your ass that President Trump's going to be dropping doge checks in your bank account come freaking election season.

00:29:39.680 --> 00:29:40.319
You understand?

00:29:40.400 --> 00:30:07.279
You heard you feel me you got me good you better and you better get yourself ready for the golden age of America you better get yourself ready for cheap ass gas and buying American made apparel from now proud Americans so damn much of it it makes you silly you understand what I'm saying my brother Willie it is coming to ya I promise ya this whole business with Iran this is going to make gas prices plummet.

00:30:08.000 --> 00:30:55.759
You're starting to see the movement now the streets of Hermouth it's all starting to work out between Nicholas Maduro the US floating into Caracas and taking Maduro in the dead at night to wiping out the regime in Iran to building back to becoming the superpower that we've always should have been getting back to who we are we are back sooner than later to the greatness that we deserve we must weather the storm much like myself hauling a trailer through a snowstorm from Bangor we have to weather the storm but trust me friends the storm will clear and you heard it here first by July 4th you're going to be living the good old American dream.

00:30:56.079 --> 00:31:16.000

You heard him on the background beats on the little gut check right there he leads the inspiration for the gut check when we take a break on the podcast here.

00:32:59.039 --> 00:33:00.640
So he does the theme songs and everything.

00:33:00.720 --> 00:33:14.559
So Jeff and Chris lifelong friends loyal wrestling fans they travel to so many tremendous events I get super jealous of all the cool events they go to I turn on Netflix and see him in the crowd at Monday Night Raw.

00:33:14.880 --> 00:33:27.839
And Chris said man Jeff had something come up you can't make this event and um you're the next person I thought of like do you do you want to go and he said you know this is my treat man I'm not asking for anything.

00:33:27.920 --> 00:34:40.559
I just want somebody to go with me and you know I had to ask the wife obviously I I've been gone for so long I'm looking at leaving again and she's like dude just go this is an amazing opportunity like enjoy yourself go have fun and um once I said yes and it started to set in you start to kind of get giddy like a schoolgirl that you're going to be going to do something you haven't done in a long time and uh uh yesterday on Monday night I roll over to Chris's house getting ready to leave and when I walk into the door he hits Roman Reigns entrance music and the fun just begun and it all started from that moment on and uh we hit the road and headed to Boston and and he was asking me man when's the last time you uh went to a a wrestling event and and and I was thinking about it and I said man I brought my wife to a house show a few years ago but that's when I say a house show that's just like a small event like uh no TV no pyrotechnics no you know big long entrance ramps and all the fun glitz and glamour stuff you know and I said I've been to a couple of those events over the past few years but the last time I was at a Monday night raw was over 20 years ago over 20 years ago man it's probably about 25 years.

00:34:40.639 --> 00:34:45.599
Number one that means I'm old as shit okay but I couldn't believe it.

00:34:45.840 --> 00:35:15.840
And uh it was thinking man it's been so long since I did this I didn't even know what to expect and uh we we we get to Boston and we get to the to the to the um parking garage and we're early and we go have dinner together and drinks together and and we're crushing uh shots of whiskey and and and enjoying great food and great company and catching up and just shooting the shit and reminiscing and just just being young again and having fun again and and we rolled into the event and we had tremendous seats right next to me.

00:35:16.000 --> 00:35:35.760
Like literally right next to me was the camera for Netflix that every wrestler talks to everybody cuts the promo to which everybody looks all the action faces that camera because that camera is going to provide 90% of the feed that goes live to Netflix that camera was right next to us.

00:35:36.079 --> 00:36:21.280
So we had amazing seats we were able to see all of the action everything looked like it was delivered directly to you if you're booing somebody flipping somebody off they're definitely seeing your reaction because they're looking right at the camera that's right next to you that sees my big old ass with a savage loud proud American t-shirt on so maybe some of you might have caught the big old loud proud American on Netflix but uh I know some wrestlers certainly did and uh we we flipped a few off and we encouraged quite a few but you could see them seeing us and seeing our reaction and uh obviously they're they're feeding off of that but they're looking directly at me and Chris because we are the camera like we are right next to the camera.

00:36:21.519 --> 00:36:22.960
And it was amazing.

00:36:23.119 --> 00:36:37.920
It was amazing I was blessed by seeing most of my favorite wrestlers all at one time I got to see Brock Lesnar and I realized that I might still be a schoolgirl because when he came out I I dropped five F bombs on my video I didn't even realize it till I played it back.

00:36:38.079 --> 00:37:09.920
And I was like wow you were pretty excited you swore like 55 times in in 32 seconds that's pretty impressive you degenerate um that was pretty awesome uh penta's entrance I know a lot of you guys probably aren't wrestling fans none of this means anything to you but I got to see Roman Reigns who's um one of my absolute favorites between him and Brock Lester that's all I could have hoped for I got to see all this I got to experience all this I got to get the energy of all of this the excitement of all of this I got to experience Monday Night Raw in a way I've never experienced Monday Night Raw.

00:37:10.079 --> 00:37:16.719
This was a first for me this was a tremendous opportunity for me this was a lifelong memory for me.
